Mosque officially approved to Solemnise Religious/Belief Marriage

We are very pleased to share the news of acquiring approved celebrant status under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977.

So what does this mean? Well, it means that marriages can be officially conducted on the mosque grounds by the Imam! Since he began his work in December last year, a lot of couples had wanted to get married at the Central Mosque, but we had always directed them to the mosques already having the celebrant status whilst our application was being processed by National Records Scotland. It is now with great joy for us to share with the Edinburgh Muslim community that marriage vows can now be officially exchanged at the central mosque. A few guidelines to follow however are here.
