If you have received a COVID-19 notification alert by text or email you should follow the below instructions.
You should isolate yourself from others and seek a test.
There are multiple ways to get tested. Which test to take will depend on whether you currently have symptoms of COVID-19 or not.
I have no COVID-19 symptoms
If you have no symptoms of COVID-19 then you can take a lateral flow test.
If you have already ordered free lateral flow tests to be taken at home, you can take one of those and you will have your results within 30min
If you do not have any lateral flow tests at home, you may be be able to get tested at a community test centre if you live in the local area. Click here to find out about the community testing centres in Edinburgh for non-symptomatic testing.
If you do not have access to lateral flow tests at home, and do not live near a community test centre offering lateral flow testing then you can either
1. Order lateral flow tests to be taken at home
2. Book a PCR test
In both cases you will be required to isolate at home until you receive your test result.
I have COVID-19 symptoms
If you think you are current experiencing any of the symptoms of COVID-19 such as a new continuous cough, a high fever, or a change or loss to your sense of smell, then you should book a PCR test at your nearest test centre using gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
Order lateral flow tests for any future notifications
We highly recommend our community members order lateral flow tests which can be taken at home. They are free to the public and produce a result within 30min of taking the test. This is a very quick and effective way to keep yourself safe, and others, while causing minimal disruption to your schedule.
